Why don't you wash your clothes in cold water. Not only you will save on your energy bill, you will also contribute to reduce greenhouse gases by lowering your energy consumption.
I LOVE this...I mostly do this anyway because I'm really cheap. I hate to pay the additional costs it takes for hot water because it's so expensive in my city. However, I'm glad that it is a green way to wash clothes as well. Besides most importantly, your clothes are just as clean with cold water as they are with hot. If there's a noticeable difference I haven't discovered it yet.
